ARTICLE 01

Crypto-assets carry risks

The price of a crypto-asset can move sharply and quickly. Its value can fall, including to a total loss. Wedge recommends no asset and guarantees no price, return or availability.

ARTICLE 02

Irreversible transactions

A transaction confirmed on a blockchain is generally irreversible. An error in the asset, the network, the address, the amount or the recipient's number may cause a loss or a delay that cannot be corrected.

ARTICLE 03

External networks and wallets

Your wallet and the blockchain networks are independent of Wedge. Outages, congestion, network fees, validation delays, attacks, forks or wallet errors may affect a transaction. You remain responsible for the security of your wallet, your keys and your recovery phrase.

ARTICLE 04

Rates and conversion

The available rate may change between the opening and the confirmation of a transaction. A quote has a limited lifetime. The applicable fees and spreads are shown before confirmation where the transaction can be carried out.

ARTICLE 05

Mobile money and the recipient

The final credit depends among other things on the accuracy of the number, the state of the recipient's account, the operator's limits, the country and the availability of providers. A check or an outage may delay or prevent the credit.

ARTICLE 06

Regulatory risk

Rules on crypto-assets and payments evolve and differ between countries. A feature may be limited, suspended or withdrawn. You must check that your use is permitted in your jurisdiction and meet your tax obligations.

ARTICLE 07

Fraud

Beware of urgent requests, fake investments, fake shops and people who ask you to send funds. A payment you authorise to a fraudster may be impossible to recover. Always check the recipient's identity and number.

ARTICLE 08

No advice

Information from Wedge is provided to explain the service. It does not constitute financial, legal, tax or investment advice. Consult an independent professional if needed.

ARTICLE 09

Risk of total loss

A crypto-asset may lose all or part of its value. You should only use assets you understand, and be able to bear financially any loss linked to holding or transferring them.

ARTICLE 10

Stablecoin risk

An asset presented as stable may lose its peg, become illiquid, be suspended by its issuer or cease to be accepted. The name or design of a stablecoin does not guarantee its convertibility at a fixed value.

ARTICLE 11

Counterparty risk

An issuer, wallet, platform, operator or provider may become insolvent, cease trading or withhold funds. Wedge does not guarantee the obligations of an independent entity.

ARTICLE 12

Market liquidity risk

An asset may not be convertible at the desired time or volume. Low liquidity may lead to a price gap, a refused transaction or a less favourable quote.

ARTICLE 13

Network fee risk

Blockchain fees can rise sharply. They may be non-refundable even if the mobile money credit fails, because they pay for processing by an independent network.

ARTICLE 14

Congestion risk

Heavy activity, an outage or an attack may slow confirmations. A transaction may expire on the Wedge side before the network confirms the transfer, requiring manual review.

ARTICLE 15

Protocol risk

A blockchain or a smart contract may contain an error, a vulnerability, a governance change or a fork. These events may affect the availability, value or recognition of an asset.

ARTICLE 16

Compatibility risk

Sending an asset on an unsupported network, using a token with a similar name, or omitting a required identifier may cause a permanent loss. The user must follow the displayed information exactly.

ARTICLE 17

Device risk

A compromised, lost, shared or infected device may expose credentials and alter payment details. Keep the system up to date and check the recipient's number on the final screen.

ARTICLE 18

Phishing and impersonation

Fraudsters may imitate Wedge or a member of the support team. Use official channels only. Wedge never asks for a recovery phrase, a private key or remote control of your wallet.

ARTICLE 19

Human error risk

Entering the amount, the number or the country incorrectly may credit the wrong person. The user must re-read the summary and stop the transaction if in doubt.

ARTICLE 20

Recipient risk

A mobile money account may be closed, restricted, held by another person or subject to a cap. The recipient must be legally able to receive the amount in their country.

ARTICLE 21

Currency risk

Converting between the crypto-asset, a reference currency and the CFA franc may involve several markets. Variations and rounding may produce a difference between an earlier estimate and the final accepted quote.

ARTICLE 22

Geographic availability risk

A country, an operator or an asset may be withdrawn without notice where the law, security or a provider requires it. Past use does not guarantee future availability.

ARTICLE 23

Seizure or freezing risk

An authority, an issuer, a provider or an operator may freeze, seize or withhold funds in accordance with the law. Wedge may be prevented from returning funds or from explaining certain measures where the law forbids it.

ARTICLE 24

Tax risk

Using or converting a crypto-asset may create a tax liability, even when it is used to pay for goods. Rules differ according to residence and the nature of the transaction.

ARTICLE 25

Cross-border legal risk

The user, the recipient, the blockchain and the providers may be subject to different countries. Incompatible rules or transfer restrictions may delay, prohibit or alter processing.

ARTICLE 26

Evidence risk

A blockchain transaction proves a technical transfer, but not necessarily the legal cause of the payment or the delivery of goods. Keep invoices, correspondence and recipient details.

ARTICLE 27

Merchant risk

Wedge does not guarantee the quality, legality, delivery or refund of any goods or services purchased. Any commercial dispute must first be taken up with the recipient, subject to statutory consumer rights.

ARTICLE 28

Delayed support risk

An investigation may depend on several operators, time zones or confidentiality obligations. Support cannot always provide an immediate resolution or disclose the detail of a check.

ARTICLE 29

Product change risk

A feature, a limit or a payment method may change. The user should read the information displayed for each transaction rather than rely on a previous experience.

ARTICLE 30

Ways to reduce risk

Check the recipient, start with a reasonable amount, use a secure device, read the quote, keep the evidence, and contact Wedge immediately if anything looks wrong. These measures reduce some risks without eliminating them.
